CORE Projects Looking for Partners

Welcome to Cooperation

Dear colleagues, friends!

The objective of the CORE Programme is to improve the living conditions of the population of the Belarusian districts affected by the Chernobyl disaster by undertaking direct measures to help them in formulating individual and common project initiatives. This objective is achieved by development and implementation of integrated projects in the priority areas, involving local inhabitants as well as national and international partners on governmental and non-governmental levels (Declaration of Principles on the CORE Programme).

The CORE Programme was approved by the Government of the Republic of Belarus on August 25, 2004, Enactment No. 1016, and it is implemented initially in the 4 affected districts: the Bragin and Chechersk districts of the Gomel region, the Slavgorod district of the Mogilev region, the Stolin district of the Brest region.

146 projects have been included into the Programme, 111 of which are small-scale local initiatives and 35 are topical, long-term and multi-component projects to be implemented on the territory of one or several districts.

73 projects (total budget of 3.5 million Euro) still need financial support; their description is given in this brochure. The projects correspond to the four priority areas of the CORE Programme activity: health care and surveillance; social and economic development of the affected rural areas; culture, education of children and youth, transmission of the memory of the Chernobyl disaster; and radiological quality.

A new attitude of population towards problems caused by the Chernobyl catastrophe consequences and their solution is forming in the four CORE Programme participating districts. People of different occupations and ages make their contribution to common cause of the rehabilitation of their native districts. Taking responsibility for their future and for the future of their children, they propose ideas, realization of which will facilitate the improvement of living conditions in the affected districts. Your partnership will help these ideas to become real deeds. By joining efforts we could return to full-fledged life that wonderful part of Belarus, which the Chernobyl catastrophe tried to reive away from its people.
