Topical project: Project news  

Project title: "Young Family Club".

Activity area: Culture and education for children and youth, transmission of the memory of the Chernobyl disaster.

Implementation place: Rzhavka Village of the Slavgorod District.

Target group: Young families of Rzhavka village, and senior citizens.

Project duration: 1 year.

Project aim: To make the living of young families and their children on the territories contaminated by radionuclides safer.

Objectives:

  1. Propaganda of healthy styles of life.
  2. Support and assistance in tackling daily problems for young families.
  3. Perpetuation of life experiences through generations.
  4. Teaching safe ways of living in the situation of radioactive contamination.
  5. Establishment of contacts with the CORE Topical Project "Healthy Motherhood" in the Stolin District.

Project implementation/Activities:

  1. Conducting a general meeting of the village residents in order to find out their wishes concerning the Club activity
  2. Implementing small-scale initiatives of young families
  3. Conducting instructional sessions with the participants of the Healthy Motherhood Project, discussion of burning issues, experience exchange, visiting the places where the projects are implemented.

Expected results: The young people attending the club shall learn the skills of family budget management and child care. They shall know how to jointly address the arising problems, and how to live safely on the contaminated lands. Young people, children and senior citizens shall be taught to help each other and act together. They will also get the so much needed experience of communicating with each other.

Implementing organisation:

Youth Centre "Hope of the 21st Century", Head of the Centre G.N. Yermakova. Address: 213258 v. Rzhavka, b. 18, Vaskovitchi local soviet, Slavgorod district, Mogilev region, tel.: 8-02246-46-4-83 (home). The staff of the Centre work for free providing recreation services for children and teenagers from the village. The Centre has the following hobby clubs: "The Magic Yarn", "Skilful Hands", "A Friend of Mine", "Our Heritage". It co-operated with the Chernobyl Children Foundation.

Partner organisations: Enterprise "Privolny", Department of Sports and Physical Education of the District Executive Committee.
