Project title : Preservation and development of pottery-making traditions on the territory of the village Gorodnaia.

Activity area : Culture and education of children and youth, transmission of the memory of the Chernobyl disaster.

Implementation place: the village Gorodnaia, the Stolin region.

Target group : the potters, pupils, youth, the population of Gorodnaia.

Project duration: 1 year

Project aim: The action is aimed at preservation and development of pottery-making traditions and creation of The Pottery Centre as elements of living conditions rehabilitation of the population on the contaminated territory. The village Gorodnaia is famous for its profound and rich history. It is situated far from the main roads, on the territory with barren soils and it is contaminated by radionuclide. The project implementation allows preserving the history of the village and highlighting its originality.

Objectives:

1. To preserve pottery-making traditions;
2. To develop pottery-making by educating young people;
3. To improve employment situation in the affected area;
4. To work out the perspective for the village Gorodnaia to be included into the republican and international tourist ethno-ecological itinerary.

Project implementation/Activities:

The process of action realization includes:

1. Evaluation of natural and labor resources;
2. Development of The Pottery Centre and of pottery-making infrastructure in village Gorodnaia;
3. Revival of pottery-making traditions by educating young people;
4. Working out and publishing info materials;

It is planned to bring about close partner cooperation of the given action with the action "Revitalization process of local economic activities in rural contaminated territories for rehabilitation of living economic conditions".

Expected results:

The project implementation will allow preserving and developing of the spiritual, material and cultural heritage of the village Gorodnaia, will lead to unemployment level decrease, will attract tourists' attention to the region. In general, realization of the enumerated issues will contribute to the improvement of living conditions in the village.
