Project title: Rehabilitation through promotion of the cultural heritage and consolidation. Activity area: Culture and education for children and youth, transmission of the memory of the Chernobyl disaster. Implementation place: Rzhavka Village of the Slavgorod District. Target group: thenative and relocated population of Rzhavka Village Project duration: 1 year Project aim: The Project shall try to demonstrate that the affected territory is not only contaminated with radionuclides, but is also known for its famous people. This Project will be premised on the village library constructed by and named after the former villager Y.I. Draychuk. In the early `80s, the library stock boasted nearly 20,000 books. By now, it has shrunk to 8,000. Objectives: - Restore the contacts with the natives of Rzhavka and the neighbouring villages;
- Arrange events dedicated to the current and former famous villagers;
- Renew the topical (environmental, historical and pre-school) exposition in the Rzhavka library;
- Facilitate rehabilitation of living conditions of the village through consolidated recreation of events from the near past.
Project implementation/Activities: - Restoration of contacts with Rzhavka natives and residents from the neighbouring villages.
- Replenishment of the library stock in co-operation with regional and national libraries.
- Creation of a memorial site in honour of the founder of the library and other renowned villagers.
- Arrangement of joint meetings with famous Belarusian men of letters.
Expected results: The Project shall help preserve the memory about many of our renowned countrymen. It shall make life in the village more attractive and interesting, so that the young people would not be willing to emigrate, and would take pride in their native land. Implementing organisation: P .
