| Project title: Pond reclamation, development of fishery in the district. Activity area: Economic and social development of the rural contaminated areas. Implementation place: Shelomy Village . Target group: Alexander Labodayev, fish-farmers of the district. Project duration: 1 year Project aim: Development of fishery in the district as a way to improve the economic profile of the district. Application of fishing methods appropriate for the local conditions would provide local people with fresh fish of high quality. According to the radiation control, in 2000-2002 the specific activity of various fish species identified in the Slavgorod District was on the average 15-60 Bq/kg, and did not exceed 100 Bq/kg, while the maximum allowed level is 370 Bq/kg. Objectives: - Legalise the pond site.
- Sign a subcontract for the construction and restoration works.
- Establish contacts with the Gorki Academy.
- Put fish into the pond, and create favourable conditions for spawning.
Project implementation/Activities: - Legalisation of a land plot to be used as a fishpond complete with a biological feasibility report;
- Assigning two men to manage the pond, and improvement of fishing skills;
- Construction and restoration works, putting fish stocks in the pond, and pond management.
Expected results: The Project will help create new jobs, provide people of the district with fresh and clean fish, supply fish-farmers with small fries.
