Project title: Involving the population of Chechersk district, Gomel region, into the process of improvement of their health condition by increasing the level of knowledge and awareness of the district population in the situation of radio-ecological, social and economic trouble.

Target group: the children, young people and adult population of Chechersk district

Project duration: 1 year

Project aim: Involving the people into the process of improvement of their health condition by increasing the level of awareness with the issues of radioecology in the situation of ecological, social and economic instability.

Objectives:

1. To arrange the meetings with the district population for identifying the scope of information of interest to them on radioecology and radiological medicine.

2. To a nalyze and systematize the available information on radioecology and radiological medicine and adapt it for the local situation.

3. To d isseminate the adapted information among the population in order to increase the level of awareness of the issues of radioecology and health care.

4. To reduce the emotional uneasiness connected with the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

Project implementation/Activities:

Activity 1. Arranging the meetings with the population and the district authorities in order to collect the information of interest to them on radioecology and radiological medicine; a nalyses and systematization of this information.

Activity 2. Search for, collection, analysis, systematization, adaptation of the isolated information of interest for the population of the district on radioecology and radiological medicine in home and foreign sources.

Activity 3 . Elaboration, publication and distribution among the population of reference and methodical materials concerning all aspects and conditions of safe living, maintenance and strengthening of one`s own health in the situation of radio-ecological and socio-economic trouble.

Expected results:

  • the information seminars with the population, the administration of organizations, establishments and enterprises are carried out;
  • the adapted information materials are prepared and distributed;
  • the level of knowledge and awareness of the district population of the issues of radioecology and their health condition is increased;
  • the inhabitants of the district are involved in the process of maintenance and strengthening of their own health;
  • the emotional uneasiness of the population connected with the consequences of the Chernobyl accident is reduced .
