Economic opportunities

The economic infrastructure of the Slavgorod District is represented by:

  • Processing enterprises
  • Agricultural enterprises;
  • Services and trade enterprises;
  • Industrial enterprises; and
  • Enterprises engaged in extraction and processing of wood.

Population also receives some additional income from sale of wild berries, mushrooms, hunting and fishing.

Food enterprises

The district has the following enterprises:

OJSC 'Slavgorod Butter and Cheese Factory' is a producer of high-quality hard cheese supplied to the Belarusian markets and exported to Russia.

OJSC 'Slavgorod Vegetable Drying Plant' is a dried potato producer. However, because of outdated energy-intensive technologies, this product is expensive, hence, problems related to its sale.

Services and trade enterprises

In Slavgorod, there is a communal production unitary enterprise 'Slavgorod Combined Communal Service Enterprise', providing various types of services: clothes made to order, clothes and shoe mending, laundry, chemical cleaning, ritual services, and rental services

Individual entrepreneurs provide such services as hairdressing, photo, shoe mending, repair of home appliances and TV sets. However, the district does not have such services as furniture repair, making of knitted items to order, making of items from natural fur.

Trade services are provided by the Slavgorod District Society of Cooperative Consumption (the share of retail trade is 77% of the total trade turnover in the district).

There are 4 privately owned shops in the district.

Consumer cooperation enterprises

In Slavgorod, there is a combined enterprise of cooperation industry, which includes:

  • a bakery with a confectionary shop;
  • a soft-drinks shop, and
  • a sausage shop.

Enterprises for extraction and processing of timber

Wooded lands located within the Slavgorod District are owned by the Cherikov and Krasnopolye forestry enterprises that cut and harvest wood.

In Slavgorod, there are about thousand private houses heated with wood. As a rule, woods are made and delivered by individual entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship in the district

There are 130 registered individual entrepreneurs in the Slavgorod District.

The main types of entrepreneurship activities include trade, communal services for the population, making of firewood and transport services.
