Why the CORE program ?

Dear friends,

Now, we are proud to offer the first working web page of the new international programme Co-operation for Rehabilitation (CORE).

Many people are willing to better understand the CORE Programme itself, and learn more about its uniqueness and working principles.

CORE - is primarily a programme for those who care about the people victimised by the Chernobyl tragedy, their children, and the future of the vast affected region of Europe in general.

CORE - is an integrated programme comprising 4 priority areas: economic and social development of contaminated rural areas, health care and surveillance, education and cultural heritage, and control of radiological quality.

CORE - is not a humanitarian aid programme. It is a development programme advocating the idea of "together with people, not in their stead".

CORE - is a new co-ordination mechanism that consolidates joint efforts, fosters constructive dialogue, facilitates exchange of experience, and builds a better future for affected population and territories through implementation of realistic and targeted local initiatives.

CORE - is a flexible and open mechanism of co-operation which can help any participant to identify a fitting activity, district, national and local partners, and preferable financial schemes, based on the needs of affected population.

CORE - is an attempt to avoid repetitions and overlaps in the activities of international projects concerned with rehabilitation of the affected areas.

We shall be glad to answer all your questions, and we cordially invite you to join the co-operative effort of the CORE Programme which is based on the principles of partnership, solidarity and overall responsibility.
